Happy November! This month, I’ll be writing about some of the ways in which collaborative efforts enriched Ramona At Midlife. (And probably my entire approach to making art, period.)
But first. Just to say. This week has been a doozy; I’m sure you felt it too. Therefore, it’s a great time to let you know about the impact campaign that Level Forward has created for the powerful Academy award-nominated short film, Red White and Blue.
I first found out about Red, White and Blue through our Executive Producer Sara McFarlane, who was among its producers. I watched it soon after, and I was riveted by its message and incredible storytelling.
Red, White and Blue is a 23-minute short by first-time filmmaker Nazrin Choudhury. It’s the story of a single mother in Arkansas (played with depth and grit by Brittany Snow) urgently seeking an abortion and forced to travel across state lines to get it.
I won’t say more and spoil the ending, only that it definitely packs a punch and stayed with me for a very long time. And with every stream between now and the election, a donation will be made to Level Forward’s Purple Parlor Fund, supporting reproductive rights and justice.
If you are moved by the story or the film resonates in any way, please share amongst your network. You can view the film here: bit.ly/RedWhiteAndBlueFilm

And please go vote! I did it, early Tuesday morning, and it felt great.
Stay tuned for a feature on designers Christine Jones, Rhea da Souza and Aoshuang Zheng. As always, keep creating, write your new story…like Ramona, you’re not done.
Love,
Brooke
